What is the Sassy SEWer?
The Sassy SEWer offers comprehensive beginner to advanced sewing instruction for kids and adults. We have classes in Sewing/Serger Machine Operation & Techniques, Garment Sewing, Kids Sewing, Patternmaking, Fabric Design and more. The Sassy SEWer is a licensed You Can Make It and Kids Can Sew Fashion Design. The Sassy SEWer is also an Authorized Juki Sewing Machine Dealer.

What kind of classes do you have?
The Sassy SEWer offers Kids/Teens Can Sew & Fashion Design classes and You Can Make It sewing classes for teens and adults. We also offer sewing machine repair and sales, tailoring, fashion illustration, pattern making classes, just to name a few. Some classes meet weekly, others meet for half (2-4hrs.) and full days (7hrs.). Classes range from beginner to advanced sewing. See the current class schedule.
How does the You Can Make It Sewing series work?
The YCMI Sewing Series is continuous sewing program with 7 levels that you complete at your own pace. Students register monthly for a 4 week session. Students do not move to next level until the required skills and garment in each level is complete. Therefore, you may be registering for multiple sessions.
Do I need to know how to sew to take a class?
No, most students have never touched a sewing machine.Beginner level classes are for those who have no sewing experience. Beginner + level is for those who can thread a sewing machine and follow a simple sewing pattern. Intermediate level is for students who can complete patterns with linings and are ready to make simple design changes. Intermediate + is for students who can
How do I register?
Register online. Online payments can be made with MC and Visa only. In person registration can be made with Cash, MC and Visa. Additional class fees are payable at the first class.
Do I need a sewing machine?
No, I have a sewing machine you can use. However, if you do, I encourage you to bring it to class or eventually buy a sewing machine. That way you are able to work at home. The Sassy SEWer is an authorized Juki Sewing Machine Dealer.
What about class size?
Each class/workshop must have at minimum of four students. If not, the class will either be canceled or rescheduled at the instructors discretion. You will be refunded or issued a class credit to be applied to a class of at least equal value. Please register early and often to prevent class cancellation.
What is the refund policy?
Classes/workshops are taught by local and national sewing instructors who teach at various venues around Maryland and the country, such as Gail Patrice Designs, Sandra Betzina, Rae Cumbie and Sarah Veblen classes/workshops are non-refundable, you will be issued a class credit to be applied to a future class of equal value.
Can I makeup my class?
Yes, but only You Can Make It or Kids Can Sew classes. These classes meet (weekly), attending class on an alternate date is possible. You will have one month from the date of the missed class to makeup the class. Missed classes can be made up by: 1) attending another regularly scheduled class, with instructor permission or 2) attending class at a predetermined date and time set by the instructor.
